Terms & Conditions

John Knowles Funeral Services will act in a professional manner and provide a courteous, sensitive and dignified service to you.

  1. Estimates & Expenses

The estimate we prepare sets out the services we agree to supply. This estimate is an indication of the charges likely to be incurred on the basis of the information and details we know at the date of the estimate. Whilst we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the estimate, the charges are liable to alteration, particularly where third parties change their rates or charges.

We may not know the full amount of 3rd party charges in advance of the funeral. However, we endeavour to give you the best estimate of such charges in the written estimate. The actual amount of the charges will be detailed and shown in your final invoice.

If you amend your instructions, we will require your written confirmation of any changes. We will accept emails. This may incur an extra charge in accordance with prices published in our current price list.

  1. Payment Arrangements

All disbursement fees are to be paid no later than 48 hours prior to the date of the funeral. The final balance of the funeral account is to be paid within 14 days of the date of the funeral, unless otherwise agreed by us in writing. Payment options are available if needed.

  1. Indemnity

You are to indemnify us in full and hold John Knowles Funeral Services harmless from all expenses and liabilities we may incur (directly or indirectly, including financing costs and including legal costs on a full indemnity basis) following any breach by you of any of your obligations under these Terms.

This means that you are liable to us for losses we incur because, for example, any extra administration fee where we receive a cheque from you which is subsequently not honoured or if we write to remind you that an account is overdue. If we are left in a position where we have no other option but to instruct a debt collection agency, we will recover from you any fees or charges we incur from involving a 3rd party. Further details regarding these fees are available on request. We will claim these losses from you at any time and, if we take legal action, we will ask the Court for all legal costs to be added to any outstanding debt.

  1. GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)

We respect the confidential nature of the information given to us and, where you provide us with personal data, we will ensure that the data is held securely, in confidence and processed for the purpose of carrying out our services. In order to carry out our services we will need to pass such data to 3rd parties and those 3rd parties, who are performing some of the services for you, may contact you directly. Any subsequent contact will be directed through John Knowles Funeral Services and/or the 3rd parties involved directly with the initial services we provided.
